Migrant children need emergency help at the border

Unaccompanied migrant children are arriving in San Diego, Calif., by the hundreds daily. Local leaders plan to house 1,400 girls temporarily in the Convention Center, and a comparable number of boys elsewhere in the city. One of Families With Dignity's Leadership Team members, Sister Mary Kay Dobrovolny, RSM, is now part of a community of religious in San Diego, whose Casa de Misericordia is providing spiritual and material support to the migrant children, many of whom are LGBTQ+ and fleeing homophobia and persecution. The Sisters of Mercy are collecting donations and need clothing, especially socks, for teenagers in particular.
