Pope Francis has directed the global Roman Catholic community to engage in a two-year process of conversations with each other, leading up to a Synod of Bishops in October 2023. The goal is to help the entire church “walk together” into a new future. Many hope that the voices of church members will truly help shape the outcomes.
Families With Dignity encourages all our friends and supporters to take advantage of these opportunities to listen with compassion to the concerns of others “on the margins” and to make a bit of “good trouble” by discussing how current teachings and practices impact LGBTQI people, our families, friends, and communities. This is a chance to give personal testimony about your experiences, concerns, and hopes. Many opportunities to share your hopes for the Catholic Church have appeared recently:
- New Ways Ministry is offering two sessions, “LGBTQ Spiritual Conversations for the Synod” with Dr. Robert Choiniere, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. Eastern and Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Eastern. For more information, see New Ways Ministry's Synod page.
- Dignity USA will sponsor listening sessions on: Feb. 26 at 2 p.m Eastern and March 24 at 8 p.m. Eastern. More details on the DUSA sessions will be coming soon.
- Servants Entrance will also offer Synod participation sessions. Information on these events will be forthcoming on their website.
